Narsapur at a Glance

NARSAPUR AT A GLANCE

Andhra Pradesh boasts a rich heritage of traditional crafts, many of which have been nurtured as home-based vocations over generations. One such exquisite craft is crochet lace making, which originated in Narsapur, a serene town by the Godavari River in the West Godavari district.

In 2004, India’s first lace park was established in Narsapur, providing thousands of artisans a platform to showcase and market their creations. The craft employs fine cotton threads and delicate crochet needles of varying sizes to produce a stunning array of products. Narsapur's artisans specialize in doilies, pillow covers, cushion covers, bedspreads, table runners, and tablecloths, as well as trendy items like purses, caps, mobile covers, tops, and stoles.

Eye-catching lampshades and wall hangings also add to the diversity of this craft. Available in vibrant hues such as orange, green, blue, white, red, and beige, these handwoven masterpieces are cherished worldwide, with exports to ountries like the UK, USA, and France. Crochet lace products from Narsapur are not just utility items but also prized souvenirs that reflect artistic finesse and timeless tradition.
