The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Textiles India 2017, on 30th June, 2017, amongst Textiles Ministry and industry dignitaries in a colourful ceremony. He appreciated the role of handicrafts and textiles in the Indian economy. EPCH led a sector delegation to this fair with 195 exhibitors in home furnishing, made-ups, furniture, houseware, decoratives, fashion jewellery & accessories. In order to educate exporters about the implication of the GST on the handicrafts sector and also how to migrate to the new tax regime, EPCH conducted awareness seminars in several craft hubs and clusters across India through the months of May and June. EPCH also made representations to concerned Govt. departments for relief to the handicrafts industry. “The Crafts Sector - a green perspective" conference was hosted at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Delhi, on 25th July 2017, by the All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association (AIACA), with support from European Union. Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH, was the Key speaker.
