Union Minister of Textiles graces ‘GI & Beyond 2024 Summit’
Presents GI Registry tag Certificate for Narsapur Crochet Lace

The ‘GI & Beyond 2024’ Summit, organised by the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), successfully concluded on 25.11.2024 at New Delhi.The event was inaugurated by Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles as chief guest who distributed GI certificates to 10 artisans from various parts of the country. He presented the Geographical Indication Registry tag certificate for Narsapur crochet lace craft to Smt. C. Nagarani, District Collector, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh and Mr. K N Tulasi Rao, on behalf of West Godavari District Alankriti Lace Manufacturing Mahila Mutual Aided Co-operative Society's Federation Limited and the Narasapur All India Crochet Lace Exporters Association. Mr. Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India; Smt. Amrit Raj, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, at National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy, New Delhi. This was the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the World Crafts Forum and a collaborative event of the World Crafts Council (WCC), Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, UNESCO, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and EPCH to integrate crafts into sustainable development and build a global craft ecosystem for the future. The highlight of this celebration were participation, craft showcasing and retail sale by 60+ national and international craft persons. The WCC Forum, also graced by Smt.
